A Field Course in Old Barns
with Les Fossel
This is a course for people that have old barns(that maybe need repairs(, or want an old barn, or you just love old barns! The emphasis will be on the practical ways to maintain your old barn at an affordable cost. The first session will be in the classroom, after that, meetings will be held in the old barns of class members. This course is co-sponsered by the Morris Farm Trust in Wiscassett. The last class will be a potluck supper at the instructors house, where class members can visit the intructors shop, barns, and reference library. NOTE: Followinf first class the day and time of future classes will be determined by class members.Les Fossel is one of Maines foremost expert on early buildings. He has helped preserve early building for forty two years.
Backyard Honey Bee's

This class is presented by Jean Vose, it provides information about keeping honeybee's in North America. It includes basic information onj honey bee biology, kinds of bee's in the hive and a look inside the hive. Jean will explain how to get started with beekeeping and introduce native bee's and explain how to identiy and attract them. This class includes a slideshow and take home handouts, Jean is a master Gardener, certified Horticulturist and Backyard Beekeeper, since 1986.
Cleaning with Essential Oils

Come and join us and learn how chemicals in your cleaning supplies are making your home toxic and what you can do about it. We will discuss how you can detox your natural cleaning supplies you can easily make at home. We will also discuss why you should clean with essential oils, the science behind using essential oils, safety guidelines and tips for cleaning with essential oils, which oils to use and you will receive recipes for making products for your laundry, bathroom, kitchen, carpets, glass, wood and even the air! You will also learnsome of the basics about essential oils, we can answer any questions you might have, and introduce you to some of the most popular oils and how to use them. There is a 15.00 dollar lab fee, paid to the instructor the night of class. This is just in time for Spring cleaning!!
Darling Needle Felted Animals

In this one evening class each particiapnt will make one or more cozy, soft small mammals or birds of their choice out of wool and use the felting method to create the features of their new friend. In the past, popular choices were bears, penquins and ducks. A material fee of 9.00 covers all wool and armature materials, plus one felting needle. You may create a treasured gift or something to keep for yourself. No experience needed, young people age 12 and up may attend with an adult. Bring your glasses with you if you wear them for close vision. Class size is limited. Deb holds an MA in fine Arts and has been teaching Adults various art projects for many years.
Essential Oils Gift Basket Mothers Day or Fathers Day or Graduation

Come and have some fun and also make a great gift for someone for Mothers Day, or Fathers Day or Graduation with essential oils. These gifts will be appreciated as a thoughtful expression of caring. Choices are: Men- shaving cream and body lotion, Shampoos and Conditioners Women- Bath Salts and body lotion, Kids- Bath Bomb and Body lotion, Baby body wash and lotion. Lab fee is 10.00 for each basket, make one or more, limit of four, this is a two night class. April 2nd and April 9th. Lab fee is paid to the instructor.

Hot Press Goat Milk Soap Making

Students will make a full batch of goat milk soap, in the scent of their choice (instructor will supply scents, soap, ingrediants and molds) Students must bring their own dedicated 1.5 gallon crockpot and dedicated submersion blender of electric mixer.
Jelly and Jam Basic's

Would you like the fresh taste of homemade applesauce or strawberry jam all year long? This hands on food preservation workshop will teach you the basic steps for hot water canning and freezing, Participants will receive a "Preserving the Harvest" food preservation packet, and will learn recommende methods for preserving foods, the latest and safest recipes. You will also learnabout equipment to insure safty and how to check for properly sealed jars. Please bring a potholder to class with you. You will take home a jar of whatever we prepare for the evening. A twenty dollar lab fee is paid to the instructor the night of class.
